Take'em or Leave'em
Curtis Samuel – Wide Receiver, Carolina Panthers
Week 9 was possibly Samuel’s best game as a pro. He caught all 9 targets for over 100 yards and received 3 carries. He also got himself into the end zone for the third consecutive week. This Carolina offense has been better than expected and, with the emergence of Robby
Anderson and Samuel, has quite a few weapons including McCaffery and DJ Moore.
Verdict: Leave’em, I don’t trust him. He feels very boom or bust and I’m expecting a bust week coming up vs Tampa Bay, who will be looking to redeem themselves after an embarrassing performance on Sunday Night Football versus New Orleans.
Tim Patrick – Wide Receiver, Denver Broncos
After a slow start, Patrick has now scored double digit fantasy points in 4 out of his last 5 weeks. Denver has dealt with a ton of injuries this year and Patrick has taken advantage of that.
Verdict: Take’em, the injuries keep piling up in Denver and Patrick has become an important part of that offense. I’d be willing to spend about 10% of my FAAB
Duke Johnson – Running Back, Houston Texans
David Johnson left week 9 early with a concussion. If David Johnson doesn’t complete concussion protocol, Duke Johnson is a pickup and play option. Even if David does play, Duke still has flex appeal in deep PPR leagues. He’s caught all 9 of his targets over the Texans’ last two games.
Verdict: Take’em – He really only has substantial value if David Johnson is out, but I do believe he will miss next week. I’d only spend 5% of my FAAB unless you own David Johnson.
J.D. McKissic – Running Back, Washington Football Team
Since week 4, J.D. McKissic has had less than 10 Fantasy PPR points just once. Primarily a pass-catching back, McKissic’s value goes up if Alex Smith moves forward as the team’s starting QB. He won’t ever wow you, but has a steady floor.
Verdict: Take’em, I’d rather have him than Duke Johnson who I mentioned above. He has a higher floor and isn’t as reliant on injury to be fantasy relevant. I’d be willing to spend about 15% of my FAAB on him.
Other Pickup Options
Mike Davis – Davis was dropped in many leagues with McCaffery coming back. Now, McCaffery is dealing with another injury and could miss at least one week. Davis should be rostered even when McCaffery is playing, especially if you are the McCaffery owner.
Austin Hooper – Hooper is set to return in Week 10. Although he started out the year slow, Hooper started picking it up before his injury. Now with OBJ out, Hooper should be an even bigger part of the offense.
Tony Pollard – The Cowboys’ season is not going well. Ezekiel Elliott has been dealing with injuries and I think that they may reduce his workload once the playoffs are out of reach. Pollard has been effective when playing in place of Elliott and would probably be an every week start if Elliott was ever out.
